Way of the Sword tells the story of Miyamoto Musashi's arrival in a Genma-infested Kyoto — and CAPCOM has now profiled the full cast: four allies, five formidable foes, and seven Genma enemy types. Here is everyone confirmed so far, with official art, voice actors and what each means for your playthrough.
Musashi has headlined the franchise before, too — see how this reboot fits the wider series in our guide to every Onimusha game in order.

Musashi, an Onimusha and the protagonist, is joined on his journey by allies with their own pasts and motivations.
Voice: Kenichiro Thomson
An ardent samurai who arrives in Kyoto looking to prove that he is unmatched in the way of the sword. However, the path before him takes a strange and unexpected turn — an Oni Gauntlet binds to his arm, and with it comes the power of the Oni.
CAPCOM cast the late samurai-film legend Toshiro Mifune (Seven Samurai, Yojimbo) as the face model for this rendition of Musashi — "a striking samurai, constantly moving from one bloody and gritty fight to the next." The likeness is licensed through Mifune Productions.
Voice: Yuriri Naka
A female Oni housed in Musashi's Oni Gauntlet. She usually supports Musashi from within the gauntlet — the voice that rings out from it — but can also appear before him when the need arises.
Voice: Shogo Miyakita
An individual Musashi meets through the guidance of the voice in his gauntlet. A highly skilled swordsman who vanquishes Genma with ease despite his old age — and he appears to carry an Oni Gauntlet of his own, much like Musashi and Ganryu.
Voice: Leader Looi
A young dancer who comes to Ono no Takamura seeking the power to defeat the Genma. Her Kabuki dance has brought her fame within the city, but other priorities are keeping her from the stage of late.
Musashi will face opponents whose martial prowess rivals his own. Bloody duels to the death await in the capital.
Voice: Tashinga Bepete
A swordsman also known by the name Sasaki Kojiro, whose fate seems inescapably intertwined with Musashi's — and who appears to wield an Oni Gauntlet of his own. He is the final boss of the free demo: our Sasaki Ganryu boss guide covers every phase of the duel.
Voice: Abe Jarman
A towering Genma that revels in wreaking havoc with mighty swings of its intimidating club. Constantly in a state of hunger, he seeks out sustenance with an obsessive fervor.
Voice: Clare Corbett
An unusual entity who spends her time in a laboratory under the capital, engrossed in creating new Genma variants. One glimpse at the facility is enough to make her twisted tastes clear — you'll visit it yourself in the Underground Laboratory.
A Genma created by Dokyo. It assaults its prey with feral, agile attacks and strikes of lightning.
Voice: Anthony Howell
A large Genma found within a fortress atop Mount Oe, whose heinous acts know no bounds. Legends tell of an Oni by the same name — could there be some connection?
Usually dwelling in the lowest depths of hell, the Genma have been brought into the world of the living by the Malice enveloping Kyoto. Seven enemy types are confirmed so far:
Sword-, bow- and shield-wielding Genma that attack in groups, driven purely by their urge to kill and devour.
An immensely destructive Genma that swings its giant axe with unfathomable ease. The more stained in its own blood it becomes, the greater its power grows.
A strange, floating Genma with pale-bluish skin. They consume the floating souls Musashi needs for his gauntlet and puff up before firing blasts of energy. Don't let the size fool you — and yes, the demo's save-data reward charm is named after this creature (how to earn it).
A Genma created by Dokyo — a grotesque mass of stitched-together faces and elastic tentacles.
A parasitic Genma that puppets a human host, enhanced by the souls it has consumed. It releases Malice that can bolster other Genma nearby — prioritize it in mixed groups.
A Genma with large spikes running down its back. They charge forward, spinning or rolling at great speed, shredding anyone in their path.
A winged, ninja-like Genma that watches Musashi's every move and strikes when an opening appears. Paired Oboro Garasu employ deadly combination attacks — a moment's inattentiveness often marks the end of their quarry's life.
