Higashioji Street Oni Refuge

The Oni Refuge beyond Higashioji Street's scaffold buildings is reached through the well near the Oni Cloth (Awakening) chest. Inside, a floating wooden tower is surrounded by golden walls and bow-operated blocks. The route below keeps the three observed target adjustments in order so that the final stone staircase becomes reachable.

Reach the well courtyard beyond the scaffolds

From Higashioji Street, pass the red torii and the blindfolded woman's stall. Continue through the thatched-house lane, past the merchant clearing and up the stone stairs to the scaffold courtyard.

Clear the enemies, enter the scaffolding at ground level and climb the interior ladder. Drop into the enclosed room and kill the Weaver beside the doorway with Square. Leave through that doorway, climb the next ladder and drop into the courtyard beyond. Defeat Byakue in the garden, continuing after its health recovery until it dissolves.

Climb the scaffold ladder beside the raised veranda beyond the garden, then drop to the lotus pond. Clear the pond and hall enemies. Enter under the leaning beams, descend the hall's interior stairs and leave through its side opening. Circle the outside wall into the small paved courtyard, passing the open-front room whose Glyph reveals the Awakening cloth chest. Open the double wooden door into the courtyard with a tree, fire basket and well.

Collecting the cloth is optional for this route; you can cross the courtyard directly to the double door.

Descend the well ladder with Cross (×) and follow the stone steps into the passage. Use L2 + R2 — Oni Vision at the Glyph between the lanterns. Activate it with Cross — Use Oni Power, wait for the golden eye to open, then press Cross — Examine to enter.

Follow the tower roof to the first block

From the arrival point, follow the rocky path toward the ruined wooden tower. Walk along its broken sloping roof and around the outside corner. At the golden wall, press Cross — Use Oni Power to wall run onto the adjacent roof section.

Continue along that roof until the first ornate block is visible across the gap. Its face has a red circular target. Hold R2, aim at the target and release to shoot. Wait for the block to rise.

Use the golden rock wall beside the roof with Cross. The wall run now lands you on the block's gold-patterned top. The distant stone stairs are visible ahead, but the arrangement is not finished yet.

Return to the roof and adjust the higher block

Turn toward the golden wall beside the tower and press Cross to return to the roof. From the roof, aim higher and to the right of the first target, at the red target on the block under the projecting wooden frame.

Shoot that target with the Oni Bow and wait for the movement to finish. Use the same nearby golden wall to return to the block tops.

This is still an intermediate arrangement. If the final stairs remain separated from your platform, continue with the next adjustment instead of trying to jump across the open gap.

Circle the opposite roof corner for the third target

From the blocks, use Cross at the golden wall to return to the tower roof again. Follow the roof around the opposite corner of the wooden building, passing the broken planks and exposed frame.

Look through that broken frame toward the suspended blocks. Aim at the red target visible between the timbers and fire the Oni Bow. Wait for the block to move before leaving this position.

Walk back around the roof to the original golden rock wall used to reach the block tops. Press Cross to wall run across. From the gold-patterned landing, move over the adjusted platforms and onto the stone staircase between the lanterns, then climb through the torii.

Reach the memory and climb back out

Follow the red flowers toward the large stone monument. Continue into the grey landscape and approach the Oni Woman's memory. Let the subsequent conversation finish.

You return to the passage beneath the well. Check for Cotton Cloth ×2, Power Stone ×1 and Oni Stone ×1, together with New Enhancements Available at Spirit Mirrors.

Take the rock steps back to the well ladder, climb to the courtyard and return to a Spirit Mirror to inspect the available enhancements. The ordinary supplies found along the approach are separate from these refuge rewards.
