Oni Cloth (Awakening)
Quick answer
From Higashioji Street, pass the red torii and follow the thatched-house lane to the scaffold courtyard. Climb through the scaffold interior and drop into the room containing the Weaver. Kill it, leave by the next ladder and defeat Byakue in the garden. Climb the scaffold ladder beyond the garden and drop beside the lotus pond. Clear the enemies, enter beneath the leaning timber, descend through the hall and circle its outside wall to the small paved courtyard. Use Oni Vision, climb the short steps into the open-front room and activate its Glyph with Cross. Examine the chest that appears for Oni Cloth (Awakening), then open the double door into the well courtyard. Confirm Hozuki Pouch: Awakening, which restores a fixed amount of Oni Power and Awakening gauge.

Step-by-step route
Reach the scaffold courtyard
Pass the red torii, the blindfolded woman's stall and the thatched houses. Continue beyond the merchant clearing to the stone stairs.
Check: Reach the courtyard with scaffolding and red threads.
Kill the hidden Weaver
Enter the scaffold interior, climb its ladder and drop into the enclosed room. Kill the hanging Weaver, leave through the doorway and climb the next ladder.
Check: The threads disappear and you can drop into the courtyard beyond.
Pass Byakue and the lotus pond
Defeat Byakue in the garden, including its renewed attack after recovering health. Climb the scaffold ladder beyond the garden and drop to the lotus pond.
Check: Clear the enemies around the pond and the scaffold-supported hall.
Collect the cloth
Enter under the leaning timber, descend through the hall, leave through its side opening and follow the outer wall into the small paved courtyard. Use L2 + R2 for Oni Vision, climb the short steps into the open-front room and activate the Glyph with Cross. Examine the chest that appears.
Check: Oni Cloth (Awakening) ×1; the double door opens into the well courtyard.
Take the cloth to Okuni
After The Demon on the Mount returns you to Rokudo-chinnoji Temple, finish the story scenes and leave the main room for the courtyard veranda. Approach Okuni beside Takamura and press Cross at the pouch-marked Talk prompt.
Check: Hozuki Pouch Awakening appears in an unlock panel and the purple pouch is added to the selection menu.
Oni Cloth (Awakening) is inside a small room beyond the scaffold-supported buildings and lotus pond near Higashioji Street. The approach includes a hidden Weaver and a Byakue encounter. This guide covers finding the cloth, opening the shortcut and unlocking the purple pouch with Okuni. The return visit below is at the end of The Demon on the Mount, after the mountain story brings you back to Rokudo-chinnoji Temple.
Leave Higashioji Street through the thatched-house lane
Start at the Higashioji Street Spirit Mirror. Follow the short stone path toward the red torii gates and small stone statues. Pass the blindfolded woman seated at the open-front stall, then continue into the lane between the thatched houses and pale grasses.
The woman offers The Faceless, a separate story. Her conversation is not the cloth pickup.

Clear the enemies surrounding the merchant beside broken wooden framework. Speaking with him afterward gives Six-Year Sake ×1. Continue beyond his clearing, following the bamboo fence and thatched house toward the stone stairs between lanterns.
At the top is a paved courtyard with red threads, stacked timber and extensive scaffolding. Deal with the ground enemies before climbing. Use the Oni Bow against the enemies firing from the upper framework: hold R2, aim and release to fire.
Climb through the scaffolds to kill the Weaver
With the upper attackers cleared, enter the open ground-level passage inside the scaffolding. The route's ladder is inside the timber framework, beyond the baskets and pots; climbing onto the outer shooting platform alone does not take you to the Weaver.
Climb the interior ladder to the top. Look down into the enclosed room below the scaffold edge and drop into it. A small red Weaver hangs beside the doorway and fire basket.

Attack the Weaver with Square (□) until it dissolves. The red threads disappear. Leave through the doorway beside it, clear the enemy among the baskets and climb the next scaffold ladder. Drop from its upper platform into the paved courtyard on the other side.
The nearby ordinary chest contains supplies. Continue through the garden opening beside the red-leaved tree to encounter Byakue — Hundred Defilements.
Defeat Byakue and descend to the lotus pond
Keep room to respond to Byakue's long blade sweeps. Guard with L1 or evade with Circle (○), then make short counters after the follow-up swings finish. Take the Square weak-point prompt when it appears, but remain ready to defend afterward.
Do not leave after the first apparent defeat. Byakue recovers health and resumes attacking. Continue until its body dissolves and the encounter ends.
Cross the cleared garden to the building with short stone stairs and a raised wooden veranda. Go beside the veranda to the scaffold ladder, climb it and follow the wooden platform. Drop from the edge into the lotus pond courtyard.

Clear the enemies around the pond and adjoining hall. Keep the elevated shooters in view and use the bow when they are out of sword range. The encounter also includes shielded enemies and floating attackers; clear the nearby threats before stopping at a chest or doorway.
Circle the hall to the Awakening cloth chest
Find the low entrance beneath leaning wooden beams, beside the scaffold-supported hall. The ordinary chest outside this entrance gives Glutinous Hozuki, so continue inside for the cloth.
Pass under the beams, round the hall's large wooden pillar and take the interior stairs down. Leave through the side opening beneath the scaffolding, then follow the building's outer wall around its corner. Continue into the small paved courtyard. Use L2 + R2 — Oni Vision to reveal the golden Glyph in the open-front wooden room across the courtyard. Climb its short wooden steps between two small lantern posts.

At the Glyph on the back wall, press Cross (×) — Use Oni Power. Wait for the Glyph to dissolve and the ornate chest to appear. Then press Cross — Examine to open it. Check the item notice for Oni Cloth (Awakening) ×1 before leaving.
At the large double wooden door beside the chest room, press Cross — Open. This creates a shortcut into the courtyard with the well, tree and fire basket. The well leads to a separate Oni Refuge; entering it is not required to obtain this cloth.
Take the cloth to Okuni and unlock the Awakening pouch
Keep the cloth as you continue the main story. After The Demon on the Mount, finish the scenes at Rokudo-chinnoji Temple until its Story Complete message appears and A Haunted Distraction begins.
From the temple's main room, walk toward the open doorway facing the courtyard. Step onto the wooden veranda beside the pond, where Takamura is seated and Okuni is lying beside him. Approach Okuni and press Cross — Talk at the prompt marked with a pouch icon. You are opening her pouch service; Takamura's separate story dialogue does not unlock the pouch.

Confirm the Hozuki Pouch: Awakening unlock panel, then close it with Cross. The purple pouch is now present in Pouch Selection. Using this pouch restores a fixed amount of Oni Power and Awakening gauge. The blue Aggressor pouch instead restores Oni Power and Reflex, so check the name and color when choosing between them.

The unlock panel and the purple icon confirm this handoff. Unlocking a pouch does not by itself mean you have equipped or enhanced it. This return route uses the temple visit after The Demon on the Mount; it does not establish the earliest possible handoff point.
Optional discovery near the starting mirror: A Stony Resolve
Before following the cloth route, you can investigate the small shrine beside the Higashioji Street mirror. Pass through the red torii, turn around the side of the raised red shrine and approach the tree surrounded by small stone figures and lanterns.
Press Cross — Examine at the purple trace on the ground between the stone figures. Let the investigation finish: a white Lion Dog emerges and Curious Cases Updated — A Stony Resolve appears. This is a separate discovery beside the route's starting point.
