The Blessed Man

The Blessed Man is a Curious Case that begins with a man claiming to be invincible on Kiyomizu-zaka Slope. This guide covers the pursuit, the Malice plant encounter and the final temple fight. Inputs below use the PlayStation layout.

Speak to the Strange Man and find the injured man

At a Spirit Mirror, choose Travel → Eastern Kyoto → Kiyomizu-zaka Slope. Turn from the arrival mirror into the street and walk downhill past the residents. Look on the right-hand side of the descending street for the Strange Man outside an open shop, beside baskets and large round containers.

Approach and press Cross (×) — Talk. Finish his conversation to begin The Blessed Man.

Continue downhill. Pass the hanging white cloth and enter the thatched house at the bottom of the slope. A woman is beside an injured man lying on the floor. Speak to him and finish the conversation before leaving the room.

The pursuit objective is Head after the blessed man. Use L2 + R2 — Oni Vision to reveal the golden trail when the route turns away from the main street.

Follow the trail through the lanes and gardens

Outside the house, clear the nearby Genma so you can follow the trail. Against floating or distant attackers, hold and release R2 to fire the Oni Bow. Use Square (□) against the close enemies when they leave an opening.

Take the path through the bamboo beside the house, then turn behind the buildings into the narrow alley between the plaster wall and bamboo fence. Follow it through the gate into the courtyard of a raised red wooden hall.

Clear the enemies in this courtyard and leave through the gate on its far side. Continue along the lane with the long plaster wall on your right. At the houses beyond it, reveal the trail again and turn toward the vegetable plots and wooden openings between the gardens.

Fight through the garden and continue past the bamboo frames and brazier. The trail passes an unfinished wooden house and then an open house beside a tree and wagon. Clear its attackers, go back outside and follow the path beside the building to the next wooden gate.

The Strange Man stands by the fence at this courtyard entrance. Approach him to continue the confrontation. The objective changes to Destroy the Malice Plants and Genma.

Destroy the plant core and the Genma

The courtyard fills with red mist. The plant's red core is against the tall plaster wall, beneath the large growth; the small shrine is to its left when you face the core.

Deal with the Genma near the entrance first, keeping room to step away from their attacks. Use the bow against the enemy farther back near the plant, then finish the close attackers, including the shield bearer. Once you have room, move up to the exposed red core and strike it repeatedly with Square until it breaks.

Confirm that the red mist clears and the objective returns to Head after the blessed man. Leave through the courtyard gate and resume the pursuit.

Reach the temple courtyard and defeat the Genma

Turn along the street past the house with white radishes hanging from its front. Follow the lane past the willow and thatched buildings, then continue between the red-lantern shops and the long plaster wall.

At the destination corner, turn into the stone-paved temple courtyard. The man is beside the small wooden shrine across the courtyard. Reaching the marker is only the arrival checkpoint: approach him and press Cross — Talk to start the final confrontation.

When Defeat the Genma appears, fight the enemies around the larger hall. Use R2 shots to interrupt distant attackers, then close in for short Square combinations against the nearer enemies. Keep moving into open space if several surround you; the fight continues until the remaining Genma are cleared.

Finish the explanation and collect the reward

After the courtyard fight, continue through the scene involving the man and Murasaki's explanation. The reward appears as control returns at Yasaka Shrine:
