Pale Lights in a Night Sky

Pale Lights in a Night Sky is the woman's request about mysterious lights, accepted on Kiyomizu-zaka Slope. The destination is a bamboo courtyard behind the houses. Clearing enemies on the approach does not finish the request: enter the rear courtyard, clear its enemies and then return to the woman. Inputs below use PlayStation labels.

Find the woman beside the downhill road

From the Kiyomizu-zaka Slope Spirit Mirror, walk down the stone-paved main road. Look on your right for a woman wearing a pale checked outfit and headscarf. She stands beside a wooden house, a rough stone wall and baskets; a gray twisted growth rises beside the house.

Approach and press Cross (×) at Talk. Finish the conversation about the pale lights until Pale Lights in a Night Sky starts. Select the named request on the map so Head to the designated location is tracked.

Follow the roofs and lanes toward the destination

One approach begins at the Yasaka Pagoda Spirit Mirror. Follow the street away from the mirror, past the wooden houses and scaffolding, to the ladder leaning against a house beside the rising road. Climb it onto the low roof made from wooden and bamboo slats.

Move across the roof toward the houses ahead. Enemies can attack from the rooftops and the lane below. Use the bow with R2 against distant floating enemies and avoid staying still while their attacks approach. If Musashi catches fire, evade repeatedly with Circle (○) to put the flames out.

Descend from the low roof into the lane, follow it between the bamboo fences and houses, then continue onto the stone-paved street toward the destination marker. Deal with enemies that close in along the street.

Go through the open shelter into the bamboo courtyard

Destination Reached appears along the street before the courtyard fight begins. Continue toward the burning brazier beside the open wooden shelter on the left. Walk into the shelter and pass through its open rear side.

This brings you into a yard enclosed by houses, walls and tall bamboo. Glowing, floating Genma appear and the objective changes to Defeat all the Genma.

If the HUD still says Head to the designated location, continue through the shelter. The street's arrival notification and the courtyard's battle objective are separate checkpoints.

Clear the floating enemies and check the far wall

The floating heads move around the bamboo yard and send attacks toward Musashi. Aim and shoot with R2 when they hover beyond sword reach. Evade an incoming attack before lining up the next shot. When an enemy drops close, use a short sword combination, then move away as it starts its next attack.

Do not stop when one glowing enemy bursts. Look toward the far wall and the spaces between the bamboo, where another head may still be hovering. Continue until the objective changes to Report back to the woman and Shizuka says to tell the woman who made the request.

Return to Kiyomizu-zaka Slope

Leave the yard through the shelter and return to a Spirit Mirror. Choose Travel → Eastern Kyoto → Kiyomizu-zaka Slope.

From that mirror, walk downhill to the same woman on the right side of the road. Press Cross at Talk and finish the conversation. Story Complete — Pale Lights in a Night Sky confirms the request is closed.

The rewards are Cotton Cloth × 1, Oni Stone × 1 and Charm of Zeal × 1.
